2,500 cops to be deployed for CII Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam

A posse of around 2,500 police personnel will be deployed for the third edition of the CII Partnership Summit, scheduled to be organised in Visakhapatnam from February 24.

VISAKHAPATNAM: A posse of around 2,500 police personnel will be deployed for the third edition of the CII Partnership Summit, scheduled to be organised in Visakhapatnam from February 24.According to the police, a foolproof plan is ready to bring the entire coastal stretch under a thick security blanket and around 800 policemen would guard the venue at the APIIC Grounds on the Beach Road alone.

As part of the security arrangements for the summit in which around 2,000 people, including ministers, bureaucrats, foreign delegates and business tycoons are expected to take part, the entire Beach Road will be brought under CCTV camera surveillance, apart from dog squads and road opening parties. Door-frame metal detectors (DFMDs) will be installed at the venue which will have multiple layers of security. DCP (Zone I) J Fakeerappa said that 78 CCTV cameras would be installed at the venue alone and seven check-posts will be set up in the city. Collector Pravin Kumar, after a meeting with the officials, said liaison officers would be arranged for the delegates. A joint command control room is being set up at the venue to which the liaison officers would report about the movements of VVIPs.

On the inaugural day of the summit, the delegates will have a dinner at the MGM Park and another special dinner will be served to them at Novotel Hotel on February 25.Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Union ministers P Ashok Gajapathi Raju and Suresh Prabhu will take part in the inaugural while Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and a few other dignitaries will grace the valedictory.

Ministers from 18 countries will be attending the summit for which around 900 hotel rooms have been booked. After the valedictory, Chandrababu Naidu will also lay the foundation stone for the proposed International Convention Centre whose construction has been entrusted with the LuLu Group.
