Andhra Pradesh got nothing under special package: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy

The State government accepted the special package after the Centre made it clear that it could not accord SCS to the State.

VIJAYAWADA/GUNTUR: Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy on Wednesday said the State got nothing so far under the Special Assistance Measure announced by the Centre in lieu of the Special Category Status (SCS).

The State government accepted the special package after the Centre made it clear that it could not accord SCS to the State. Moreover, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley assured to extend more benefits to the State better than what it could secure under the SCS, he said. At the same breath, the minister said that there is no clarity over the special package and asserted that the State government would continue its fight against the Centre until it gives a clarity on the issue.

Speaking to media-persons at the Interim Government Complex in Velagapudi, Somireddy said that he would be happy if the Centre extends SCS to the State or all the benefits available under the SCS.
“While the onus of doing justice to the State lies on the Centre, YSRC chief Jaganmohan Reddy never uttered a single remark against the BJP. Similarly, the BJP leaders, who are supposed to take the responsibility of fulfilling the promises made to the State, are ignoring the same and blaming the State government without raising a single remark against the YSRC,’’ he said.He said CM Naidu will take right decisions at the appropriate time for safeguarding the interests of AP.
