VISAKHAPATNAM/ VIJAYAWADA: The state government has made elaborate arrangements for the three-day CII Partnership Summit to commence in the port city of Visakhapatnam for the third consecutive time on Saturday. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Ministers Suresh Prabhu, Nitin Gadkari, Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Dharmendra Pradhan, Governor ESL Narasimhan, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and a host of other ministers and officials will attend the inaugural function.

Ministers of Trade and Commerce from 15 countries and around 2,000 delegates from 40 countries will be among those taking part in the event. A number of plenary sessions and state sector sessions on various topics have been listed for the three days. The plenary session on ‘Sunrise Andhra Pradesh’ will be held immediately after the inaugural session of the summit themed ‘Charting India’s Global Integration Strategy’. 

The Andhra Pradesh government has high hopes on the CII Partnership Summit this year, expecting investments of more than `3 lakh crore to come its way. Trade circles are hoping that the latest Partnership Summit might prove a game changer for the industrial sector in the state. During the first partnership summit held in 2016, as many as 290 projects were proposed and investments worth `3.44 lakh crore clinched.

The conversion rate was 65.17 per cent in case of projects and 44.26 per cent in case of investments. In the second edition of the partnership summit which was held in 2017, MoUs for 586 projects were signed for a proposed investment of `7.65 lakh crore. The conversion rate was 39.76 per cent in case of projects and 33.86 per cent in case of investments.
