Guntur Municipal Corporation plans round-the-clock water supply

As per government norms water would be supplied to 88,935 domestic tap connections in the city through automated meter reading system

GUNTUR: Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) has prepared an action plan to ensure 24X7 water supply to the houses in the city. The project will cost Rs 214 crore.Civil Supplies Minister P Pulla Rao instructed corporation authorities to send a detailed project report to the government. GMC special officer and district collector K Sasidhar said that SGI Pune and SGI India Private Limited have prepared a detailed project report. The team gave a PowerPoint presentation, about the project, at the programme.

The minister said that motors, bulk flow meters, energy meters, instant repair of leakages and mixing of chlorine and alum would help increase the quality of water supplied to households. The quality necessitated by comprehensive water scheme would be maintained, he said.

As per government norms water would be supplied to 88,935 domestic tap connections in the city through automated meter reading system.The minister suggested to shift the proposed comprehensive drinking water centralised unit from Takkellapadu to Lakshmipuram. He also advised to start a command control room in the office of GMC commissioner.
