Andhra Pradesh R&R colonies to get better amenities

According to the district administration, all basic amenities at R&R colonies would be ready in the next two to three months.

VIZIANAGARAM: To ensure smooth displacement of people from the proposed Bhogapuram airport area, the district administration has intensified efforts to develop basic amenities at the R&R colonies at Polipalli and Gudepuvalasa villages. As many as 376 families are likely to be displaced from Bollinkalapalem, Rallapalem, Mudacherlapalem and Maradapuvalasa villages near Bhogapuram. According to the district administration, all basic amenities at R&R colonies would be ready in the next two to three months.

The international greenfield airport was proposed at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district almost three years ago which is estimated to cost Rs 2,200 crore. To set up an integrated airport, the government released a notification in August 2015 to acquire 2,700 acres from the farmers. Out of the proposed extent of land, the district officials are yet to acquire 165 acres, as the landowners moved High Court.

“To displace the families from the proposed airport area, we have identified the sites at Gudepuvalasa and Polipalli villages to develop R&R colonies,” said joint collector K Venkataramana Reddy.
Buildings at R&R colonies are being constructed with all basic amenities like drainages, drinking water, electricity and approach roads. Except for electricity and water, we have provided almost all basic amenities.
