CM inaugurates Grama Darshini, reviews various welfare initiatives of the State government with officials and beneficiaries.

GUNTUR: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said the foremost objective of the State government is to ensure that various development and welfare programmes are benefiting the people at large. Participating in the Grama Darshini programme at Donepudi village of Kollur Mandal in Guntur district on Monday, the Chief Minister reviewed the implementation of various welfare initiatives of the State government with officials and beneficiaries.

He reviewed the distribution of essential commodities through fair price shops under Public Distribution System by interacting with ration card holders, ration shop dealers and the officials concerned. He found that 76 per cent of the people were satisfied with FP Shop No 21, 83 per cent with FP shop No 22 and 73 per cent with FP Shop No 23 in June. The panchayat secretary informed the Chief Minister that 32 new applications were received for social welfare pensions and Naidu readily cleared all the applications.
Bima Mitras in the village explained to the Chief Minister that there is a total of 2,619 policyholders in Donepudi and claims of 13 have been resolved.

“When the breadwinner dies, it is very difficult for the family to survive. The Chandranna Bima programme has been introduced to ensure that such families do not suffer,” the Chief Minister explained.
Vemula Sirisha, one of the Chandranna Bima beneficiaries in the village, said her mother died due to electric shock. The government provided her `5 lakh under Chandranna Bima. “I have repaid a part of my debt and some amount has been deposited in the name of my children and rest was used for starting a saree business to eke out a living,” she explained.  He also reviewed the implementation of MGNREGA and NTR Vaidya Seva. Naidu announced 5.77 crores for setting up sewage canal system in the village and assured houses to the poor. Earlier, he visited the SC colony and interacted with people. He planted a neem sapling in the village and attended ‘Seemantham’ programme.

Ministers Nakka Ananda Babu, Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Prathipati Pulla Rao, ZP Chairperson Sk Janimoon, MP Sriram Malyadri, MLC AS Ramakrishna, MLAs, officials and others attended the programme.  Later, the Chief Minister formally inaugurated Potharlanka Lift Irrigation Scheme, which will provide irrigation water to 5,000 acres of land in 11 villages of Kollur Mandal of Vemuru Assembly constituency.  “Our aim is to make agriculture more profitable,” he said.  The project was constructed at a cost of `50 crore.

‘Another gimmick’

The YSR Congress has described the Grama Darshini programme launched by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday, as another publicity gimmick by spending several crores of rupees. “Happiness and development that Naidu claims are not visible in the State. The Chief Minister and the Finance Minister issue contradictory statements with regard to investments in the State in the last four years. The Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) issues a statement with different figures. Whom to believe?” YSRC leader K Parthasarathy questioned.
