Minister’s followers attack YSRCP event in Andhra Pradesh

KADAPA: Tension prevailed at Pedda Dandluru village in the faction-ridden Jammalamadugu mandal on Sunday when Marketing Minister C Adinarayana Reddy’s followers allegedly attacked a programme organised by the YSR Congress Party. As a precaution, the police detained the YSRC MP and other leaders on the outskirts of the village. Telugu Desam MLC P Rama Subba Reddy was also detained.

According to the police, the marriage of YSRC leader G Azaraiah’s son Sampath was held on May 25 for which MP YS Avinash Reddy could not attend as he was in Delhi. Avinash Reddy wanted to go to the village on Sunday to bless the newlywed couple.  The YSRCP activists erected a tent and made arrangements for the MP’s programme. Knowing about it, Minister Adinarayana Reddy’s followers allegedly warned the YSRCP local leaders not to organise the programme and bring the YSRCP MP to the village.

Disregarding the warning, the YSRC activists made arrangements. Furious over this, the minister’s followers allegedly attacked the programme, pulled down the tent and broke chairs at Azaraiah’s house. The minister’s followers went to the  residence of YSRCP leader Kullaya Reddy and broke chairs. Later, they went to the residence of Sanjiva Reddy and smashed windscreens of an SUV. The  minister’s followers allegedly attacked Guvvala Srinivasa Reddy, Guvvala Rama Subba Reddy and Guvvala Savitri with sticks.

On receiving the information, the police rushed to the village and pacified the followers of the minister. Meanwhile, MP Avinash Reddy, Kadapa Mayor K Suresh Babu and Jammalamadugu YSRCP in-charge M Sudhir Reddy left for the village. The police appealed to the MP and other leaders not to go to the village as tension prevailed and their presence would aggravate it.

TDP, YSRC workers clash
Guntur : Tension prevailed at Ramireddypalem village in Rompicherla mandal of the district on Sunday following a clash between workers of TDP and YSRC. A team of police personnel was deployed at the village to restore peace. According to locals, TDP workers attacked YSRC leader Rajana Venkateswara Reddy late on Saturday. This incident led to tension in the village.
