TDP looting natural resources: YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy

He claimed that sand mafia in the district has looted Rs 300 crore worth of sand and the money was shared among Pedda Babu, Chinna Babu, their MLAs and officials.

ELURU: Taking exception to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu raising the issue of his party MPs’ resignations and asking them to get their resignations accepted, YSR Congress chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy has said that Naidu has no right to speak over the issue.

Addressing a public meeting at Penugonda in West Godavari district on Sunday as part of his Praja Sankalpa Yatra, Jaganmohan Reddy said if Naidu had made his own party MPs resign along with YSRC MPs, the situation would have been different.

On the day when Naidu was listing out the government’s efforts with regard to water security in the State, the Leader of the Opposition raised the issue of water crisis in West Godavari district. “While the people of West Godavari district gave 15 MLAs to Naidu, his government has failed to even provide drinking water for them,” he said and added that the very land which feeds millions of people in the country is today thirsty for water.

Accusing TDP MLAs and leaders of looting the natural resources, especially sand, he said illegal sand mining had depleted groundwater levels and if it continues, the river beds and stream beds would lose the property of retaining water.

Jaganmohan Reddy claimed that sand mafia in the district has looted Rs 300 crore worth of sand and the money was shared among Pedda Babu, Chinna Babu, their MLAs and officials.  Pointing out at the lack of proper medical facilities in Achanta, where 10-bed hospital was upgraded into a 30-bed one during the YSR regime, he said it reflects the negligence of the TDP government.

“There is not even a gynaecologist. The minister concerned should take the moral responsibility and resign,” he demanded.

He also found fault with the Naidu government for forgetting its poll promises to construct bridges over canals in the district and said not a single bridge has been constructed in the last four years.
The YSRC chief said, “Unfortunately, today the State is number one in atrocities against women, corruption and non-fulfilment of promises made to people.”

Jaganmohan Reddy called upon people not to vote for a person who promises anything to be in power, but give their mandate to YSRC, which will champion their cause and take measures to  ensure that each and every promise made to them is fulfilled without fail.
