GUNTUR: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has stopped issuing monthly passes with concession to students in a bid to save them the trouble of visiting APSRTC depots to renew their passes every few months. However, yearly and quarterly passes will continue to be issued, APSRTC Guntur’s Regional Manager (RM), G Nagendra Prasad, said.

The issuance of student passes, which has started in 13 depots of Guntur region, will continue up to September for their convenience, he said. He directed the depot managers to make the process hassle-free and to ensure that the students’ demands are met.

While 60,000 students in Guntur region are availing passes, another 50,000 are making use of those issued free of cost, Prasad said.  An awareness drive is being organised to push up the number of beneficiaries of both the passes, he added.

A girl student can use the free pass till the time she turns 18. For boys, the age limit is 12. After they reach this age, they can get computerised free passes for ` 50 at APSRTC depots.

The students can also get free/passes with concession on the website www.apsrtcpass.in. by registering  details of their Aadhaar card, authorisation letter from their school and two photographs.
