VIJAYAWADA/ VISAKHAPATNAM: While Southwest Monsoon has been normal over Rayalaseema and weak over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, heat wave conditions have prevailed at one or two pockets in East Godavari and Krishna districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh. On Saturday, the outdoors were found deserted even in the morning, since hot gusts of wind slapped the roads.  

While temperatures recorded were above normal, weathermen forecast a 3-4 degree Celsius rise in maximum temperatures, recording up to 43 degrees celsius.

Highest temperature of 41.4 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram, 41.1 in Tuni, 40.4 in Kavali, 40.2 in Visakhapatnam and Masulipatnam, 40.1 in Kakinada and Ongole, 39.9 in Tirupati and 39.8 in Vijayawada.

Scientists of IMD say the temperatures are likely to remain high for another five days. The trough in westerlies at 7.6 km above mean sea level now runs from north Bihar to Telangana, across Jharkhand, Odisha and South Chattisgarh.  IMD says that in the next 48 hours, there would be thunderstorm. Gusty winds are likely at isolated places in Visakhapatnam, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, East and West Godavari districts of North Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
