Muslims all set for holy dip at Suryalanka Beach in Andhra Pradesh

In keeping with the tradition, Muslims will take a holy dip in the Bay of Bengal after breaking the month-long Ramadan fast.

GUNTUR: In keeping with the tradition, Muslims will take a holy dip in the Bay of Bengal after breaking the month-long Ramadan fast.

A large number of Muslims are expected to  reach Suryalanka Beach at  Bapatla from Guntur and Prakasam districts on Sunday. The police are taking all measures to ensure that no untoward incident takes place at Suryalanka Beach. They have arranged expert swimmers to avoid tragic incidents at the beach.  
DSP D Gangadharam said at least one lakh Muslim families will take the holy dip in Guntur and Prakasam districts. He said four CIs, 12 SIs and 250 constables were deployed to monitor the situation and avoid untoward incidents.

He said officials of the Fisheries Department have  arranged 40 expert swimmers in addition to safety jackets and boats as a precautionary measure. He said the department had already identified parking places near Suryalanka Beach to avoid traffic jams.
