ELURU: VV Lakshmi Narayana, former Joint Director of CBI, on Monday, was of the view that villagers and the management of Tundurru Mega Aqua Food Park should sit together and find a peaceful solution to the ongoing impasse.
The villagers have been up in arms against the food park fearing that it would pollute water and air apart from causing traffic problems there. The former CBI officer visited Tundurru, Jonnala Garuvu and Kamsali Bethapudi where villagers have been on agitation path for the last three years.
Addressing media at Tundurru, he said that the food park issue was a sensitive one and both parties should engage in dialogue to resolve the issue. He said as a common man he visited these villages to know what was going on here and reiterated that he did not belong to any political party. He said that the villagers were fearing air and water pollution if food park was set up at Tundurru. He said the villagers told him that the management had forcibly taken their fertile lands to build the factory close to drinking water tanks without any permissions. They demand shifting the food part.
According to Lakshminarayana, the management assured that they were building the park as per international standards and got necessary clearance from Central government.
He said the management told him that the park would provide direct jobs to about 2,000 youths and livelihood to thousands.
