VIZIANAGARAM: After eight months of investigation, police concluded that the housewife who went missing from Venkampeta in Makkuva mandal of Vizianagaram district was murdered by her husband and her body buried in a pit dug to construct a toilet.

The accused, Ch Narasayya, was arrested on Monday after police recovered his wife Ch Ravanamma’s body. On September 22 last year, Narasayya allegedly killed his wife after a tiff, buried her and plastered the pit.

Narasayya later told Ravanamma’s family and all their acquaintances that she had gone missing after a fight. After their attempts to find the woman proved futile, the family lodged a complaint with the Makkuva Police.

According to Makkuva circle inspector Mohammed, the couple, who got married 28 years back and have two children, were embroiled in a number of disputes and would quarrel often. Two years ago, depressed by the couple’s constant fights, their elder son Ch Kishore committed suicide. The other son, Sai Kumar, is pursuing a polytechnic course away from home.

Narasayya, who absconded immediately after police began investigation and was caught only recently, revealed during interrogation how he murdered his wife and disposed of her body.
