GUNTUR: An incident of rape against a minor girl was reported at Amruthalur of Guntur district on Monday. DSP M Snehita said the accused, Saranu Vishwa Teja (24), raped the girl at her house, while she was alone, 10 days ago. She added the elders of the village tried to control the situation as families of the victim and accused were close relatives.
Police discovered the issue after being tipped off by locals and conducted thorough investigation and registered a case against Vishwa Teja under POCSO Act. Special teams were also formed to nab the accused at the earliest. Meanwhile, the girl was sent to Tenali government hospital for medical examination.
