GUNTUR: BJP state president Kanna Lakshminarayana on Monday claimed that the TDP government was “doing business with the people of AP by changing welfare schemes” put in place by the BJP-led Centre.

“My son runs a construction company and provides apartments at `2,200 per square feet by purchasing sand. But the government, which gets sand for free, charges `2,400 per square feet. Isn’t the government doing business in the name of welfare schemes?” he quipped.

He said the party leaders will meet intellectuals, senior political leaders and other influential people in the State to explain them about the measures taken up by the government for upliftment of the poor in the last four years. He also met former Rajya Sabha member Y Sivaji in Guntur on Monday. Kanna said the BJP government was giving top priority to social justice and explained the welfare schemes undertaken in the last four years.
