GUNTUR: A 50-year-old man was stabbed to death by a minor, who also attacked a police constable and passerby, at Tadikonda in Guntur district on Monday evening. The 17-year-old attacker was said to be in an inebriated state and was overpowered and thrashed by locals who handed him over to the police.
According to Tadikonda SI Ch Rajasekhar, the attacker was under the influence when he attacked Bathula Sankar with a beer bottle at MRO Office centre in rural town of Tadikonda and killed him. He said the accused had a verbal exchange with the victim while purchasing liquor from a nearby shop. After attacking Sankar, the accused also attacked a constable, who was travelling in a bus to the Secretariat at Velagapudi, and locals of the village. However, the constable did not lodge any complaint against the incident and left for duty. Later, the relatives of Bathula Sankar attacked the accused and handed him over to the police for further action. Police said the accused was involved in many theft cases.
DSP G Ramakrishna and CI M Subba Rao reached Tadikonda to maintain law and order in the region. A case was registered against the incident and investigation underway.
