ELURU: In a gruesome incident, a stalker killed a woman by indiscriminately attacking her with a knife at 1 am on Wednesday at Bapuji Colony of Polavaram village in West Godavari district. Later, the youth committed suicide by consuming pesticide in the nearby fields.
According to Polavaram DSP AT Ravi Kumar, Dondapudi Lahari, 22, of Jangareddigudem and Alla Kiran, 24, of Borrampalem village in T Narsapuram mandal had been friends over the last four years. However, their friendship soured four months back. Lahari faced harassment from Kiran and complained to Jangareddigudem police, who counselled the youth and warned him to stay away from her. Kiran, who was an autorickshaw driver, ignored the police warning and pestered the woman to marry him.
Kiran even threatened that he would not allow anyone to marry Lahari. In the meantime, Lahari had fallen in love with Tadepalli Suresh of Kammaragudem area of Polavaram village. Both decided to marry on Wednesday. As per the arrangement, Lahari reached Polavaram on Sunday and stayed at the residence of Suresh’s aunt at Bapuji Colony.
Kiran, who came to know that Lahari was going to marry a person of her choice, reached Polavaram and found out the address where she was staying. In the dead of night, he knocked on the door of the house where Lahari was staying. No sooner had Suresh and his brother Satish opened the door than Kiran attacked Lahari with a knife. He slit her throat and inflicted injuries on her hands, resulting in her instantaneous death. Kiran also inflicted knife injuries on the hands of Satish when he tried to stop the stalker. Later, Kiran went into agricultural fields and committed suicide.
