Andhra Pradesh bear attack: Death toll rises to three

On June 10, a wild bear, allegedly infected with rabies, killed Baipilli Urvasi (50) and her husband Tirupathi Rao (55).

SRIKAKULAM: After battling for life for two weeks, Baipilli Duryodhan (49), who was grievously injured in the bear attack on June 10 at Yerramukkam village of Sompeta mandal, succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment at KGH in Visakhapatnam late on Sunday night. With this, the death toll rose to three. 

On June 10, a wild bear, allegedly infected with rabies, killed Baipilli Urvasi (50) and her husband Tirupathi Rao (55) and also bit three others severely -Baipilli Duryodhana, Baipilli Papa Rao and Baipilli Rajesh- who were later shifted to KGH from Palasa CHC after administering first aid. However, the people chased away the wild animal and killed it at Pitali village in Mandasa mandal.
The forest officials in association with health staff administered rabies vaccination in the village.
