VISAKHAPATNAM: Sleuths of Income Tax (I-T) department raided the Peram real estate office at MVP Colony here on Tuesday. The raids were in connection with the differences in the submitted I-T returns and the physical position of the company’s income.
Though the office was locked due to weekly off on Tuesday, as the I-T sleuths threatened the management representatives that they would break open the office to launch searches, the concerned office staff came at around 9 am and opened the doors. Then the I-T officials started checking the records.
They objected to some of the staff and management representatives to enter the premises. The raids continued till late in the evening. IT officials are yet to reveal their findings. Meanwhile, there are reports that across the State I-T raids took place in the offices of GGR Housing India Pvt Ltd of the ‘Peram’ Group at Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad on Tuesday.
Chief of the Peram Group, Peram Haribabu, is known to be a close relative of TDP MLA (from Gurajala in Guntur district) Y Srinivasa Rao and also a strong supporter of Telugu Desam Party (TDP).
