SHIMOGA: State BJP president and MLA K S Eshwarappa demanded the Union government to roll back the increase in excise duty on gold and service charges. He was speaking after taking part in an indefinite dharna staged by the Gold, Silver Traders and Pawn Brokers’ Society, here on Wednesday.
He said that the hike in excise duty from two to four per cent and service charges from one and half to three per cent has thrown lives of gold traders in jeopardy.
