TUMKUR: A dog owned by one Prasannakumar of Hulikunte in Koratagere taluk on Wednesday gave birth to nine pups, one of which resembled an elephant calf. Immediately, it became an object of awe for the villagers. The black pup had a trunk-like projection from the face. Some of the villagers  associated it with Lord Ganesha and performed pooja, while some others said it might bring bad luck to the village. As the news spread, people from surrounding areas thronged the village. However, the pup died soon.
