MANGALORE: Head of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, ABSMIDS and wife of DK, Udupi district Home Guards Commandant Dr Nidarsh Hegde, Dr Mithra Hegde was never empanelled or appointed as a dentist to President of India, whistle blower and Nagarika Hitarakshana Samithi (NHS) president G Hanumanth Kamath said on Thursday.
Quoting from the information availed under RTI, Hanumanth Kamath told media persons at Patrika Bhavan that there was no panel of dentists at Rastrapati Bhavan and Dr Mithra Hegde had never treated the President of India.
“The state government must withdraw the Rajyotsava award, which was presented to her based on these false claims in 2010,” said.
The RTI activist added hours before the media conference she had reprinted her letterhead and visiting cards, removing her claim as dentist to the President of India.
Even a photograph of Dr Mithra Hegde greeting Pratibha Patil with a flower bouquet was removed from the office. This was done in response to a notice issued by Karnataka Dental Council, Kamath informed and added that the dentist must tender an apology in public.
Kamath revealed that Dr Nidarsh Hegde had begged her not to make the issue public.
“I never entertain such invitations,” he said and added that a complaint was lodged with Governor, Secretary of President of India and Kannada and Culture department.
