BANGALORE: Following the conclusion of II PUC final examinations, the Karnataka State Pre-University College Teachers Association (KSPCTA) will stage a dharna at Freedom Park starting April 8 - a day after the II PUC evaluations begins.

The decision was taken after nearly 300 members of KSPCTA convened a meeting here on Friday to determine the future course of action. “All representatives from across the state attended the meeting. We have decided to stage a dharna. The state government preferred to ignore our demands,” said a member of the Association.

The member added that the state government stated that it will consider most PU lecturers ‘professional’ after  completion of  the BEd degree.

“Earlier, however, we were told that BEd was not mandatory. Now, we are told about the requirement of having BEd within four years. Why are they causing this confusion?” he questioned.
