MANGALORE:  Some miscreants pelted stones at a church injuring a woman here on Thursday night.

Claret Pinto (46) of Bendoorwell, who sustained an injury to the skull, was discharged on Friday. Eyewitnesses told police that around 8.30 pm when devotees were offering prayers at the church on Maundy Thursday, miscreants pelted stones at the church. A stray stone hit Claret Pinto on her forehead. She was immediately rushed to a private hospital.  City Crime Branch (CCB) inspector Venkatesh Prasanna and other staff immediately rushed to the spot. When contacted, CCB sources said the Department was clueless on the motive behind the stone pelting. As the victim’s injury was minor, she has been discharged from the hospital.

Former Union minister Oscar Fernandes, who visited the hospital, urged police to nab the miscreants in order to send a strong message to the culprits.
