MANGALORE: Since the state government is willing to revise its package in order to bring naxals into the mainstream, they should surrender, said Director General and Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) A R Infant here on Thursday.

From 2009, three naxalites from Chikmagalur region surrendered by accepting naxal packages. “If the naxal are ready to surrender, we are ready to fulfil their demands,” he said.

When asked about the prospects of recruiting tribals into ANF to prevent them from enrolling in anti-social activities, he said they could not be recruited into the Home Guards as there were technical problems in recruiting them. There is a need to relax the age limit and qualification, he said.
