BANGALORE: High Court Chief Justice Vikramajit Sen on Thursday recused himself from hearing a PIL pertaining to the March 2 violence at City Civil Court, which was  filed by Advocates’ Association, Bangalore.

The CJ observed: “Given the events that transpired on March 2, one of us (Chief Justice) feel that it would be proper to recuse ourselves."

The bench said that it was for this reason that from 11.30 am on that day, proceedings had to be discontinued for the CJ to be apprised of happenings of city civil courts and its surroundings. It sought to put on record that none of the parties to the dispute has attempted to influence the bench.
