GULBARGA: It would not be fair to indulge in mudslinging over the drought situation, said Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge here on Monday.

Speaking to the media, he said he got to know of Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda submitting a proposal to the Union government seeking an assistance of `2,606 crore to tackle the drought situation but later stating that the Union government had released a mere `100 crore.

“It is the duty of the state government to take up drought relief works and to inform the people about the work it has done. Let the state government tell the people from day of declaration of drought, how much money it has spent from the state exchequer and Central government assistance,” he said.
