Revanna demands fund release for relief

BANGALORE: JD(S) floor leader in the Assembly H D Revanna has urged Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to release `3 crore each to all the 224 Assembly segments to take up drought relief works

BANGALORE: JD(S) floor leader in the Assembly H D Revanna has urged Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda to release `3 crore each to all the 224 Assembly segments to take up drought relief works.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, Revanna said that the state government should release funds without waiting for Central assistance considering the severity of the situation.

He also criticised the Union ministers from the state for their inability to source Central assistance. “The state government has sought `2,600 crore from the Centre. But even after two months, the Centre had not released it. Ministers from Karnataka should pressure the Centre instead of touring the drought-hit areas.”

On his name appearing in an illegal denotification case, Revanna said that he was ready for any punishment if charges against him are proved. “I have not given any letter to any CM requesting denotification of land. The charges are politically motivated and truth will prevail,” he said.

He also demanded the state government to set up a special court to ensure that the guilty get punished.
