BANGALORE:  In a shameful act, which would further dent the already shattered image of the ruling BJP in Karnataka, Cooperation Minister Lakshman Savadi was literally ‘caught during the act’ of watching a blue film clip on his mobile phone when the Assembly was in session on Tuesday.

Savadi, a two-time MLA from Athani in Belgaum district, was caught by TV cameras when he was watching a video clip in which a woman and a man were found to be intimate. Women and Child Welfare Minister C C Patil, who was seated beside Savadi, was also seen peeping into the clip.

As soon as the news channels started beaming the visuals of the ministers’ unacceptable act, the Opposition parties pounced on the ministers and demanded that both of them be dropped from the ministry and also be banned from entering the State’s Legislature.

“It is a shameful act and has made all of us bow our heads in shame. Both ministers have no moral right to continue as Members of the Assembly. The incident has also exposed what lows the BJP has reached as a political party,” state JD(S) president and former CM HD Kumaraswamy said.

He also sought to know the reaction of RSS and VHP about the incident.
