BIJAPUR:  A bison that appeared at Gol Gumbaz garden on Friday morning and injured two persons, was killed before it could be transported to Dandeli. Ill-equipped forest officials persuaded pig catchers to bind and it died in the process.

Speaking to the reporters DFO KS Patil said that the bison might have entered the premises from the nearby area in Maharshtra. The news spread all across city by 8 am and a huge crowd gathered in front of Gol Gumbaz. Police guarded the animal but the  Forest Department had nothing to catch the wild animal. The exercise of binding it went on for nearly two hours and later the bison was put in a truck. But before the vehicle left the premises of Gol Gumbaz, the  wild animal died. Later, a post mortem was conducted at the Animal Husbandry hospital.
