BANGALORE: The byelection for the Udupi-Chikmagalur Parliamentary constituency will be held on March 18. The Election Commission of India on Thursday announced the calendar of events for the bypolls to be held for the 12 Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies across the country, including Udupi-Chikmagalur.
The byelection is necessitated following the resignation of Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda after his election to the Legislative Council last month.
According to the schedule, the last date for filing nominations is February 29 and March 3 is the last date for withdrawal of the candidature. Voting will be held on March 18 and the counting will be held on March 21.
