GULBARGA: Karnataka Chief Minister Sadanand Gowda has said his government is firm on implementing the Sarojini Mahishi Report which has recommended making it mandatory for the industries to recruit local people in their establishments on priority bases.

Speaking to newsmen at Chincholi in Gulbarga district on Sunday, the chief minister  said during a recent meeting with industrialists, he had firmly told Hero Honda company proprietors to make recruitments giving priority to the local people or else the government would not give permission for their project. This warning applied to all the establishments and industries, he said.

Regarding tur purchase, Gowda said his government had provided ` 5 crore to the Gulbarga Deputy Commissioner to intervene in the tur market through the Tur Development Board and to purchase tur by giving ` 4,000 per quintal.

As per the reports received by him, the tur purchase centers were purchasing tur from the farmers, and the purchase would continue till next month, he said.
