BELGAUM: The Education Department has served a show cause notice to a Marathi school teacher for his alleged anti-Karnataka stand. Dilip Chavan, a teacher of Government Marathi High School, who is also the president of Maya Marathi organisation, had read the resolutions passed in the recently-held Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Sambra village, Belgaum, which opposed the supersession of Belgaum City Corporation by the state government.

He had also condemned the alleged atrocities against Marathis by the Karnataka government.

It may be relevant to note that the Kannada activists had held a protest against Chavan and demanded his dismissal by the state government. The resolution passed at the literary meet had followed superseding of the Belgaum City Corporation by the state government.
