BANGALORE: The Lokayukta police on Friday filed another FIR against former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy, former minister C Chennigappa and two others in connection with an illegal land denotification case.

The Court had on Monday admitted a private case filed by M S Mahadevaswami, a native of Santhemarahalli in Chamarajanagar district, who had accused Kumaraswamy, Chennigappa, land-owners Raviprakash and Sriram of being involved in illegal denotification of land that was accquired by BDA for the formation of Arkavathy Layout.

The Court had also directed the police to file investigation report by February 6.

Following this, Lokayukta SP (city divison) Shivashankar had registered a case and filed an FIR in the court on Friday.

The case has been registered under various sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, IPC and Land Restriction and Transfer Act.

The former CM was accused of misusing his office to secure the denotification of 3.8 acres of land in Thanisandra of K R Puram Hobli on October 3, 2007 causing a loss of about ` 34.62 crore to the state exchequer. The denotified land was acquired by the BDA to develop Arkavathy Layout in 2003.

This is the second FIR being filed against Kumaraswamy. Earlier, the Lokayukta police had filed an FIR after one, Abraham, had filed a case against Kumaraswamy, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna and former CM Dharam Singh accusing them of being complicit in illegal mining in the state during their tenures.
