BELGAUM: Rumours of dissidence in the BJP proved wrong again on Sunday, as the 22 legislators - 18 from BJP and four independents - returned to their native places and did not head to Goa as surmised, after condoling the death of Laxmanrao Jarkiholi, father of the Jarkiholi brothers at Gokak.

A few legislators left to Goa on Sunday evening. Sources told Express that they would go back to their native places either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Rumours about the dissidence spread widely after BJP MLAs Nanjundaswamy, Nagaraj, Y Sampangi, Sarvabhouma Bagali, Raju Kage, Shivangouda Nayak, Anand Asnotikar and independents Narendraswamy, Gulihatti Shekhar, Shivaraj Tangadagi, D Sudhakar and Venkataramanappa together left for Goa on a plane from Bangalore before arriving at Belgaum, on Friday.

And the remaining BJP MLAs arrived at Belgaum from Bangalore.

There was weight in the rumours as most among the named BJP legislators including minister Balchandra Jarkiholi and the four independent legislators were disqualified after they raised voices against the then CM B S Yeddyurappa.

After the legislators boarded the plane to Goa from Bangalore on Friday, Kumaraswamy said that he has nothing to do with the legislators trip to Goa.

There were also rumours that all the 22 legislators would leave to Goa after condoling the death of Laxmanrao Jarkiholi and they would make an important decision there which could collapse the Sadananda Gowda government.

Meanwhile, minister Jarkiholi, Laxman Savadi and Govind Karjol who arrived at Gokak said the legislators had arrived at Gokak to pay tribute to the death of Laxmanrao Jarkiholi.
