UDUPI: Putthige Mutt pontiff Sugunendra Theertha, who was sidelined from the Sode Paryaya festivities, announced to sit on a one-day fast from 9 am on January 17 till 5 am a day later, in front of Sri Madhwacharya Sannidhana, Sri Anantheshwara Temple, in Car Street, here, to demand the Pejawar Mutt pontiff to withdraw the prohibition against his mutt. The seer said that the Pejawar seer and representatives of Sri Raghvendra Mutt, Manthralayam, had been pursuing efforts to involve him in the Paryaya procession and the Darbar. “I feel the seer has not been putting his fullest efforts to solve the crisis. During my third Paryaya, he had gone to the extent of printing handbills, organising protests, approaching courts, pressuring the Swamiji of Uttaradi Mutt to prevent me from ascending the Paryaya Sarvajna Peeta. But this time, though the Pejawar seer made a media statement favoring my participation in the Paryaya festivities, he did not show wholehearted interest in solving this,” Putthige seer said.
He said that he had all respect for Pejawar pontiff for his scholarly knowledge. It was not fair on him to declare prohibition (Bahishkara) on Putthige Mutt.
