BANGALORE: Former prime minister and JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda has ruled out withdrawing his party’s candidate from the fray in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha by-election.
“We have fielded our candidate following intense pressure from our party workers. We are taking the election seriously. There is no question of withdrawing our candidate,” Gowda said, while speaking to reporters here on Friday.Gowda said the Congress had not approached him in this regard, but he came to know of such a move through the media. “In any case, we will not withdraw our candidate,” Gowda added.
