‘Punishment must for advocates’

SHIMOGA: Why is a judicial probe ordered when the witnesses to the atrocities by advocates in Bangalore are available right in front of us? questioned Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge

SHIMOGA: Why is a judicial probe ordered when the witnesses to the atrocities by advocates in Bangalore are available right in front of us? questioned Union Labour Minister Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday.

Kharge demanded immediate action against culprits involved in the incident.

Video clippings reveal the facts and based on this evidence, disciplinary action should be taken against advocates who have committed this mistake.

They should be treated like any other common man, he added.

“The law makers should not break the law.

Media is considered the fourth estate and should be allowed to perform its duties.

If there are any differences it should be sorted out through dialogue, not violence,” he criticised.

Intelligence failure

The intelligence department should have been aware that untoward incidents might occur following the gathering of a crowd when a VIP is being brought to the court.

The department should have controlled the situation but it failed to notice the issue and this shows the failure of the government, he added.

He said there is no need for a judicial probe into the incident.

Former minister Kagodu Thimmappa and DCC president R Prasannakumar were present among others.
