BANGALORE: Former Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council V S Ugrappa urged the Election Commission to probe into former BJP minister and Bellary Rural MLA B Sriramulu’s statement that he had paid over Rs 200 crore to the BJP to run the party unit in the state.

The Congress leader demanded the Election Commission to order a suitable inquiry and unearth the sources of the money generated and spent by the BJP.

Ugrappa was addressing the media after submitting a memorandum to the Election Commission of India officials in Bangalore on Tuesday.

“The saffron party, it seems, has come to power  in Karnataka with only the sheer strength of money and nothing else,” the Congress leader reiterated.
