BELUR(HASSAN):  Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on Tuesday said that the result of Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha byelection wouldn’t affect the BJP state government. “People will exercise their franchise based on the progress of schemes and programmes of the government,” he added.

Speaking to reporters here on Tuesday, he pointed out that four Union ministers from Karnataka have been camping in the constituency to lure voters. He exuded confidence over the prospects of the BJP candidate in the Udupi-Chikmagalur LS bypoll, Sunil Kumar, adding that a new era would begin.

Assembly Polls Reveal Congress’ Position: CM

Balehonnur (N R Pura): Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda said that the results to the Assembly elections of five states has proved that the Congress is no longer a key political player.

On the sidelines of a function here on Tuesday, he said that this was because of the chaos of the Congress. He, however, admitted that the reception to the BJP in the polls was mixed.

The CM claimed that this will have a bearing on the Udupi-Chikmagalur bypoll, resulting in a huge victory to the BJP candidate. He refused to attribute any special reason to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa’s visit to Delhi and asserted that the former chief minister would take part in party campaign for the Lok Sabha  byelection.
