CHIKMAGALUR: State BJP president K S Eshwarappa maintained that former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa had not set any deadline for reinstating him as the CM and added he would campaign for the BJP ahead of the Lok Sabha bypoll for three days from March 14.

He told the press here on Thursday that he had no time to think of an MLA’s demand for an apology for his comments on Yeddyurappa’s trips to Delhi. “We have no objection to Yeddyurappa becoming the chief minister again... we too are hopeful that he will emerge clean in the other cases against him,” he added.

The dissidence in the BJP, Eshwarappa said, has not affected its public image. “I witnessed in my campaign tours that villagers were all praise for the BJP government for their developmental works.”

Eshwarappa averred that the LS bypoll will be fought on reinforcement of the party workers and the government’s developmental works.

On the charges made by JD(S) president H D Kumaraswamy against the BJP, he shot back: “Is he Satya Harishandra; why did he not tender his resignation when he was implicated in mining.” He also ruled out any secret understanding with the JD(S).

Eshwarappa also said that he has not been invitated yet to Yeddyurappa’s birthday bash in Hubli.
