MANGALORE: Anti Naxal Force (ANF) and district police continued the combing operation in the deep forests of Beltangady taluk and recovered huge number of fire arms and explosives from the region on Sunday.

On Saturday both ANF and the district police personnel exchanged fire with a team of 20 to 25 naxalites at Mittabagilu in Bolle forest. Sources said ANF had traced the naxal camp area and recovered hand bills pertaining to naxal activities. Police team recovered fire arms like USA made auto pistol, country made gun, 39 hand grenades, explosive powders (one and half kg) electric detonator, bullets and more. IGP (Western Range) Pratap Reddy said, “The hand bills showed how they were active in the area and those included the training manuals of the naxal. The ration which was obtained from region revealed that there were 20-25 members in the naxal team,” he said.
