TUMKUR:  An ancient temple built during the  Chola dynasty rule at Satyamangalan became a target of treasure hunters.

The miscreants apparently conducted  witchcraft on four sides of the Sri Kalleshwara temple and dug a pit, eventually ‘desecrating the Shivalinga’ on Wednesday night.

It seemed the miscreants  also performed some rituals on the temple premises to propitiate ‘Nagarakallu’, the stone carvings of snakes.

The temple lies in a dilapidated state and  devotees visit it once a year.

However, whether the accused found the treasure or not was not clear.

It seemed the miscreants performed witchcraft on the temple premise. Tumkur rural police visited the spot and registered a case.
