BELGAUM: Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (Narayan Gowda faction) urged the government to make use of the name ‘Belagavi’ instead of Belgaum compulsorily in all languages.

The activists who staged an agitation at Rani Channamma Circle here on Monday raised slogans against MES for allegedly opposing Kannada and demanded a ban on ‘anti- Karnataka’ organisation.

As MES had described hoisting of the Kannada flag in front of the Regional Commissioner’s office as an insult to the National Flag, KRV questioned why the MES had defended the hoisting of the Bhagavadhaj beside the National Flag at the Old City Corporation Office.

Meanwhile, the Gokak unit of the organisation, demanded Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) be banned immediately.

Aggressive anti-Karnataka organisations like MES or Shiv Sena working against the interests of Karnataka do not have the right to ask the government about Belgaum as it is a part of Karnataka, the organisation said.
