MYSORE/CHAMARAJANAGAR: There seems to be no respite for Nagarahole Reserve Forest from wild fire, as the forest witnessed another outbreak of forest fire on Tuesday.

Miscreants set fire in eight to ten places of the reserve.

Cases of fire were reported in different places of Karmadu Range as forest officials struggled to douse the raging flames, which they claimed to be under control, sources said.

Meanwhile, quick initiatives taken on a warfooting by forest authorities in B R Hills and M M Hills range thwarted more loss due to fire. In particular, the ICT-enabled technology that sends SMS alerts when a fire is reported in both forest ranges helped douse the flames.

About 200 hectares has been destroyed due to fire in all six ranges of the forest of the region.
