BANGALORE:  DGP of Fire and Emergency Department AR Infant has expressed happiness over the High Court order upholding the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) judgement quashing DG & IGP Shankar Bidari’s appointment as the state police chief.

When Express contacted him, Infant said, “I take it as a victory for the IPS cadre more than a personal victory. I am extremely happy that justice has been given to me. The judgement is also inspiring for young IPS officers to stand up and fight for a cause.”

He also said he would take charge as the new state police chief after government came out with a notification. “Till now, I don’t have any idea whether the state would approach the Supreme Court questioning the HC order. However, if the government approaches the SC, I will even contest it.”

Infant said, “This case would ensure the top officials are not overlooked during posting.”

Meanwhile, Bidari decided to move the SC questioning the HC judgement after he receives the order copy.

Speaking to reporters, he said, “I will move the SC next week as I feel that certain facts were not observed in the HC. If there was an indictment, I should have been given an opportunity to explain my stand. All allegations were proved false.”
