BANGALORE: Lokayukta sleuths, on Friday, conducted simultaneous raids on 55 Regional Transport Office (RTO) and Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO) across the state including 11 offices in the city. The police recovered unaccounted cash and several documents from the offices.
As the anti-corruption agency was submerged with complaints about harassment to public in distribution of smart cards, vehicle registration, renewal of driving license, interference of touts and other matters, the Lokayukta police decided to conduct simultaneous raids.
On Friday, the raids were conducted in many places including Koramangala, Rajajinagar, Indiranagar, Yashwantapur, Jayanagar, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Devanahalli, Yelahanka, Hosur Road, Nelamangala, and K R Pura RTOs. The raids started in the evening and continued till night.
Apart from the city, raids were conducted in Bidar, Kolar, Belavavi, Mysore and other districts as well. Documents and some unaccounted money were recovered during the raids. The police also raided some RTO check-posts.
Lokayukta ADGP H N S Rao said that only a few touts in Davanagere and Gadag were detained. The police have decided to submit a detailed report to the department head for disciplinary action.
