Bolstered by the response he got from BJP legislators and MPs to his luncheon call on Tuesday, former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa renewed his attack on BJP leaders on Thursday.
Addressing the public during the first unofficial road show of his yet-to-be-launched Karnataka Janata Party (KJP) here on Thursday evening, he said, “My own party (BJP) treated me like a villain and constantly tried to ignore welfare programmes started by me, because of which I felt suffocated and plan to start a new regional outfit.”
Yeddyurappa said if he had been allowed to continue for five years he would have worked for the formation of a welfare state. “Unfortunately it did not happen,” he said.
Yeddyurappa said his party would contest in all the 224 Assembly segments of the state in the coming elections, assume power with a majority and make Karnataka a welfare state.
When reporters asked him whether he would allow state BJP president K S Eshwarappa in his new party if he was ready to join it, Yeddyurappa said, “Let him (Eshwarappa) be in the BJP and strengthen it. There is no place for him in the KJP.”
Yeddyurappa said the state government machinery had totally failed in tackling the garbage problem in Bangalore.The road show that started at Hiriyur circle and culminated at the Travellers Bungalow received a good response from the his supporters, who shouted slogans greeting Yeddyurappa and the KJP.
Standing atop of a Tata Ace vehicle, Yeddyurappa was waving to them. About the December 9 convention at Haveri, he said, “There is no dilemma in organising the programme and it will take place as per schedule.”
