NICE case: Gowda files plea in HC

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda on Tuesday moved the High Court to implead himself in a case filed by Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprise Limited (NICE), challenging the Lokayukta’s orders for a probe into alleged irregularities in Bangalore-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor project.

During the last hearing, Justice H N Nagmohan Das recused himself from hearing the case, following which the case was transferred to Justice H Billappa.

During the hearing on Tuesday, Justice Billappa ordered notices to complainant T J Abraham and the Lokayukta police to file their objections, and adjourned the case till November 26.

On October 25, the Lokayukta Court had directed the Lokayukta police to probe the alleged irregularities in the BMIC project.

The Lokayukta court had also ordered a probe against 30 persons, including Deve Gowda, former external affairs minister S M Krishna and NICE managing director Ashok Kheny.
