A farmer died and another escaped unhurt when wild elephants attacked them on Sunday morning

A farmer died and another escaped unhurt when wild elephants attacked them on Sunday morning.

According to sources, farmers Harish (45) and Prakash (48) were on the way to their maize fields in Hudugur near Kudige in a two-wheeler when three wild elephants attacked them and they fell into the Harangi water distribution canal.

Harish, who knew swimming escaped, while Prakash drowned. Prakash’s body was recovered in the afternoon at Dodda Kamaravalli, seven km from Hudugur.

Assistant Conservator of Forests Nagaraj, RFO Achappa and Circle Inspector Sandeep visited the spot. Prakash is survived by his wife and two children. Kushalnagar police registered a case.
